The Canadian fintech startup scene has exploded and the banks are working hard to innovate and provide enhanced offerings. I’ve been working with Canadian banks and solution providers for many years and had the privilege of joining the judging panel of the 2016 Canadian Fintech Awards. A black tie event was held last week in Toronto to recognize the winners and was attended by a veritable “who’s who” of Canadian fintech.
I also had the opportunity to spend some time with our banking clients in Toronto. I’m really pleased with the progress being made by Canadian banks, particularly in digital banking, and am eager to see the various pieces come together and presented to customers. Several of the banks are actively seeking out fintech partners in new areas and it’s great to see some of the efforts underway - - there's lots more to come here. Some of the award winners listed below will give you as sense for what the climate is like and how banks, startups and established fintech players are coming together.
